This is a rare piece of lumber that is very dense & difficult to work with as it is hard to machine. It has sapwood as part of the blank which is unusual to get one that has sapwood that is suitable for use as a pen blank. Most of the time the sapwood is too punky to be used. This pen has the high end Platinum hardware & uses standard Cross type ball point refills. Comes with black refill.
